When my parents moved to a new cottage, I planted a Eucalyptus in the back garden.

It thrived, despite my mother saying it wouldn’t LOL

Can’t remember actually where I got it from, perhaps I bought a packet of seeds. I doubt I would have been able to buy such a tree at the time in the local garden centres.

From memory it was about three metres tall when it suffered its first wind / salt damage due to a severe North East gale; the cottage was less than a couple of hundred metres from the shore. It did survive, but the top was burnt.

There’s no way I can say which photo came first in the time order, though it’s reasonable to assume that it got considerably taller and bushier with time, probably not that much time either !
